Terms and conditions — truck and tempo deliveries

Last updated 27 August 2026 · Additional terms that apply when a Parcelia booking is made with a mini truck or tempo, including load limits, loading, e-way bills and waiting time.

These terms apply to every Booking placed on the Parcelia platform using the mini truck or tempo vehicle classes (a “Truck Booking”). They are read together with the Parcelia Terms and Conditions, which continue to apply in full.

Where these truck terms conflict with the general Terms, these truck terms prevail for a Truck Booking, and only to the extent of the conflict.

Capitalised terms not defined here carry the meaning given to them in the general Terms.

1. Vehicle classes and load limits

The following vehicle classes are available for a Truck Booking. The stated capacity is a limit, not a target, and is the figure on which liability and refusal rights are assessed:

  • Mini truck — payload up to 750 kg, load bed approximately 6 ft × 4.5 ft × 4.5 ft.
  • Tempo — payload up to 1,500 kg, load bed approximately 9 ft × 5 ft × 5 ft.

The Customer must declare the true weight, dimensions and nature of the Goods when placing the Booking. If the Goods exceed the payload or the load bed of the vehicle assigned, the Delivery Partner may refuse them and a cancellation charge of up to 50% of the Service Fee applies under Clause 20 of the general Terms.

The Delivery Partner must not be asked to carry a load above the permissible gross vehicle weight for the vehicle, and may refuse any request that would breach the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 or the rules made under it.

2. Loading, unloading and labour

Unless labour is expressly booked and paid for as an add-on, loading and unloading are the Customer’s responsibility at both ends of the route. The Delivery Partner drives the vehicle and secures the load; the Delivery Partner is not obliged to lift, carry, stack or dismantle Goods.

Where labour is booked, the number of helpers and the included time are stated in the fare breakdown, and time beyond that is charged at the published rate.

The Delivery Partner is not responsible for carrying Goods above the ground floor unless lift access is available and this was stated at the time of booking. Staircase carriage, where agreed, is charged per floor.

The Customer must ensure that access to the Collection Address and each Delivery Address is suitable for the vehicle class booked, including gate height, turning radius and any society or municipal restriction on commercial vehicle entry. Where the vehicle cannot reach the address, the Booking is treated as a failed delivery under Clause 20 of the general Terms.

3. Packing and securing the load

The Customer is responsible for packing the Goods so that they withstand road transport, including the vibration and movement normal to a commercial vehicle on Indian roads.

Furniture, appliances and glass must be wrapped and corner-protected. Loose items must be crated or bagged. Liquids must be sealed and carried upright.

The Delivery Partner will secure the load with the ropes or straps carried on the vehicle. Parcelia accepts no liability for damage arising from inadequate packing, from the shifting of an inadequately packed load, or from the Customer’s instruction to stack Goods in a particular way.

4. Documentation and e-way bills

For any movement of Goods where an e-way bill is required under the Central Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017 — broadly, consignments above ₹50,000 in value — the Customer is responsible for generating the e-way bill and for making it available to the Delivery Partner before collection.

The Customer must also supply any invoice, delivery challan, permit or state-specific document required for the movement.

The Delivery Partner may refuse to collect, or may stop the movement, where required documentation is missing. Any detention, penalty, fine or demurrage arising from missing or incorrect documentation is payable by the Customer, together with waiting charges for the period of detention.

Where Parcelia issues an electronic consignment note under Clause 17 of the general Terms, it does so on the data the Customer supplies, and the Customer remains responsible for the accuracy of that data.

5. Waiting time, detention and multi-stop routes

Free waiting time on a Truck Booking is 30 minutes at the Collection Address and 30 minutes at each Delivery Address, reflecting the time loading normally takes.

Beyond the free period, waiting is charged at ₹100 per 30 minutes for a mini truck and ₹150 per 30 minutes for a tempo, plus GST.

A Truck Booking may include additional stops. Each stop after the first carries an additional-stop charge shown before the Booking is confirmed, and the fare is computed over the full multi-leg distance.

Where a vehicle is detained for more than four hours at any single point, Parcelia may treat the Booking as a full-day hire and price it accordingly, after notifying the Customer in the app.

6. Route, tolls, permits and parking

The Delivery Partner selects the route, subject to any restriction on commercial vehicle movement in force in the city, including no-entry hours and peak-hour restrictions. A Booking placed for a restricted window may be scheduled for the next permitted window.

Tolls are included in the quoted fare for intra-city Bookings. Inter-city and state-border Bookings are quoted separately and may show tolls, state permits and entry taxes as separate line items.

Parking charges and any night-operation surcharge applicable in the city are payable by the Customer.

7. Liability on a Truck Booking

The protection limits in Clause 22 of the general Terms apply to a Truck Booking. Cover is ₹10,000 by default and, where the Customer declares the value and pays the protection fee of 0.85% plus GST, up to the declared value, capped at ₹50,000.

No liability attaches to loss or damage arising from:

  • inadequate packing or the Customer’s own loading;
  • the shifting or settling of a load the Customer stacked or instructed to be stacked in a particular way;
  • an inherent defect in the Goods, including rust, mould, decay or infestation;
  • items within Schedule I of the general Terms;
  • scratches, dents or scuffs on unpacked furniture or appliances tendered without protective wrapping; or
  • delay, where the delay results from traffic, a Force Majeure Event or a civic restriction on vehicle movement.

Claims are made under Clause 21 of the general Terms, within 72 hours, to claims@parcelia.in.

8. Cancellation of a Truck Booking

The Customer may cancel free of charge before a Delivery Partner is assigned.

Once assigned, a Truck Booking may be cancelled free of charge until the vehicle begins moving toward the Collection Address. After that, a cancellation charge equal to the base fare for the vehicle class applies, and once the vehicle has reached the Collection Address the charge is the pickup component in full.

Where the Goods are already loaded, cancellation is treated as a return leg and priced as an additional waypoint under Clause 19 of the general Terms.

Refunds follow the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

9. Prohibited and excluded goods

Schedule I of the general Terms applies in full to a Truck Booking. In addition, the following must not be tendered on the truck and tempo classes without prior written agreement from Parcelia:

  • hazardous goods within the meaning of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, including compressed gas cylinders other than domestic LPG moved under an authorised arrangement;
  • bulk fuel, industrial solvents and paints in unsealed containers;
  • loose construction material — sand, aggregate or debris — requiring a tipper body;
  • goods requiring refrigeration or a controlled temperature, unless a reefer service has been separately agreed; and
  • any consignment which would require the vehicle to be operated above its permitted gross weight.

10. Requirements for truck and tempo Delivery Partners

In addition to Part F of the general Terms, a Delivery Partner accepting Truck Bookings must hold:

  • a valid commercial driving licence for the vehicle class, with a transport endorsement;
  • a commercial vehicle registration certificate with a goods-carrier body type;
  • a valid fitness certificate, permit, pollution certificate and third-party insurance; and
  • ropes or straps adequate to secure a full load.

Documents are re-verified at least twice a year, and access is suspended while any of them is expired.

11. Governing law

These truck terms are governed by the laws of India and are subject to the same dispute resolution provisions as the general Terms, set out on the Disclaimers and Dispute Resolution page.
